A World We Dare To Imagine Part 1
As the world slowly emerge into one global village, I've had the privileges to be a part of several different cultures with different races of people. It had always been an interest of mine to learn from each unique group of people. We should always be thinking of others' perspective and treat each individuals with respect and keep an open mind toward anyone. Despite the color of the skin and the thickness of their wallet, human beings share this world together and we should try to help one and another.
The way to change the world starts with the small adjustment everyone makes and it will eventually leads to a new way of thinking. If we can see things through other's perspective then we may learn the hardship they have gone through and realize why the situation is as severe as today, then finally find a way to make the situation better. My first step would be encouraging all my friends to think before they place their judgments.

I loved reading your post, so many people like to think about big ideas but it is nearly impossible for a single idea to change the world. Although it may seem small, I believe what you wrote about understand other people's point of view and respect can be significantly more impactful than any single initiative.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about something similar for my first step. There is so much hate in the world for no reason. If people took the time to learn why other people think the way they do and learn why they have the perspective that they have, maybe we'd see everyone has more in common than originally thought. People seem to disagree on so many things, solely because they don't understand the other person's viewpoint. I think taking a second to try and understand before placing judgments would go a long way.
ReplyDeleteI think you are on to something really important here, and I think Jason puts his finger on it in his comment. People seem to disagree a lot, but actually, if they would take the time to try to really understand what the other person is saying, it often turns out that their views aren't that different at all. They just didn't realize it because they were too busy talking over each other. Pursuing clarity in a conversation should be prioritized over "winning" the argument, and we must encourage the new generation to step away from identity politics and start treating each other as individuals. Maybe an idea for you could be to start an organization that promotes critical thinking and an understanding for others' viewpoints.
ReplyDeleteIt is so important to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes. Too often people only are concerned with their own problems, or get in arguments without considering the other side. Everyone should imagine all possible perspectives before they complain or argue. This is definitely an issue that can be helped through proper changes in the eduction system.
